This movie came out last week in the UK so I had the opportunity to buy both the sequel and the new Special Edition of the first movie.

I must admit I was blown away by L&S2. It was so well done in my book. Very funny and tender at the same time. The quality of the animation was pretty much up there with the original. Dakota Fanning was also pretty good as Lilo.

After the unmitigated disaster that was Mulan 2 I'm glad they have at least one good Direct-to-video sequel out this year.

IS what mentioned at the end regarding a special new 2-disk version of the first film true? If so when is that scheduled to be released?

tuknshak the weird thing is that it has been out in many territories for ages. Australia and France have had it for months. It finally came out in the UK last Monday so I'm sure it is on its way to the US too.

>>>(the redundant The Origin of Stitch, which looks like it was made with Flash Animation by the makers of Ren & Stimpy)<<<

Where do you come up with this stuff?

Your overall review of the feature wasn't bad, but this is just a boneheaded remark.

The animation is fairly fluid, and incorporates a variety of artistic stylings in a nod to the 50's kitchy educational pieces of Disney and UPA's fun stuff, and this had the talents of some great people (including Alex Kupershmidt and Tony Bancroft) behind it.

To say that it looks like it was done with Flash animation, or that it looks like it was done by the folks who did Ren and Stimpy, betrays a rather cursory understanding of the medium, leaves me bewildered and scratching my head (again) at another ToonTalk review...
