Jim,

No Mention at all of Kurt Russell? Arguably one of Disney's success stories as much as Tommy Kirk and with a career that is still going (Miracle, for instance)...

Great list, but I have one small quibble. You said about Gabrielle Anwar, "Her role in The Three Musketeers (1993) as a seductress of sorts, on the other hand, wasted her talent." I'm wondering if you might be confusing her with Rebecca De Mornay's character. Gabrielle played Queen Anne, and "seductress" would be the last word I would use to describe her as she's rather quiet and timid as the young queen.

A fun read.

Maybe it's because I just watched the 40th Anniversary Mary Poppins, but I can't help but think that the "almost" list should have included Karen Dotrice and Matthew Garber (who also appeared together in The Three Lives of Thomasina and The Gnome-Mobile) - kids who were not only cute but had that "something" (especially Dotrice - imagine MP with two UNlikeable kids)... and certainly David Tomlinson, who not only made Mr. Banks the fulcrum of Mary Poppins, but showed his range by being the hissable villain in the Love Bug and the charming song and dance man in Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

And I wondered where Kurt Russell was too. :)

Thanks for a good list. Bet it was hard to narrow it down to only ten. Haley Mills in the top spot was no surprise, but I was glad to see my favorite, Dean Jones, score so highly. Also, I'm a Brian Keith fan, so thanks again.

Good list, but should have had Kurt Russell at #2. No list is complete without him. I agree, Hayley Mills is a good #1.

I can't get over how eternal teen Kurt Russel played the dad in Sky High. That alone made him worth a mention.

Thanks for reading, everyone. It's been so many years since seeing THE THREE MUSKETEERS, but I thought I remembered that she was one who seduced Chris O'Donnell? Like I said, it's been awhile. I never really cared for that movie.

It's funny, but Kurt Russel doesn't register with me as a strong Disney star. Obviously, he's been in a plethora of Disney movies, but I think his two strongest performances were in two films I admired greatly--MIRACLE and SKY HIGH. To me, a lot of his earlier roles get lost in muddle of the Disney of the 1970s.

Being a young girl (age 10-15) in the mid 60's to early 70's, I noticed Kurt Russell. ;-) The movies were fun, though not in the same league as Mary Poppins, and the cast was always seemed to be made up of the same core group of actors (though the girlfriends were always different!).

Now I know why the charms of Kurt Russell passed me by but no one else. :)
